The Strengthening Collective Action and Evidence-Based Advocacy to Fight Forced Labour and Protect Victims (Bridge Project – Phase II), supported by ILO, is being implemented in multiple municipalities of Bajura District, including Budhiganga, Badimalika, Jagannath, Budhinanda, Himali, Swamikarti kkhapar, and Jagannath. The project runs from 26 May 2024 to 26 November 2024 with an annual budget allocated to support approximately 300 households belonging to the Forced Labor/Freed Haliya community, organized into 12 groups.
This phase of the Bridge Project focuses on advocacy, rehabilitation, and capacity enhancement for the freed Haliya community. Key achievements include improving business opportunities for 300 freed Haliya individuals, developing rehabilitation procedures in two local municipalities, and enhancing their access to public services. The project also aims to strengthen the relationship between the local government bodies, the Freed Haliya Network, and the District Haliya Mahasangh of Bajura, fostering better collaboration and support systems for the community’s social and economic upliftment.
