OUR PROJECTS

The USAID Local Works Project, implemented in Swamikartik Khapar Rural Municipality of Bajura District, was carried out from 1st July 2022 to 31st August 2023 with a total budget of NPR 46,057,900. The project primarily targeted COVID-19 returnee migrants, especially women, youth, and marginalized communities, aiming to promote livelihood opportunities, economic empowerment, and financial access.

The project directly benefited 300 households and worked in partnership with 4 local cooperatives to ensure sustainability and access to financial services. A key achievement of the project was the successful delivery of both short-term and long-term skill development training to 300 individuals, equipping them with practical skills to support their livelihoods.

Among the trained 300 participants, 235 individuals has been stay in their communities and engage in income-generating activities at community. Furthermore, 90% of the participants became cooperative members, enhancing their access to savings, credit, and other financial services. As a result, more than 78% of the total beneficiaries were actively engaged in self employment and livelihood activities, contributing to improved household income and resilience.

This project played a significant role in supporting the socio-economic reintegration of returnee migrants and fostering local economic development through community-based financial systems and capacity building.
