OUR PROJECTS

The Local Rights Programme (LRP), implemented in partnership with ActionAid, was carried out from 2008 to 31 December 2022 in Himali and Swamikartik Rural Municipalities and Budhinanda Municipality of Bajura District. With a total budget of NPR 33,788,446, the project worked with 3,466 households and engaged 49 schools, alongside a wide network of local groups including 12 Women Rights Forums, 5 Adolescent Groups, 40 Child Clubs, 10 Child Networks, 10 Dalit Networks, 40 Farmer Groups, and 12 Reflect Circles.

The primary focus of the project was to promote child rights, women’s rights, education, youth engagement, and sustainable livelihoods. It also emphasized advocacy for the rights of landless and marginalized communities. Similarly; The project also had worked on domestic voilence related issues and advocacy to them. One of the major achievements of the project was the improvement in quality education for over 1,600 students across the supported schools through capacity-building, infrastructure support, and child-friendly learning environments.

Additionally, the project significantly contributed to raising awareness among women and children about their rights, enabling them to advocate effectively at local and municipal levels. As a result, around 25 women were elected to and actively participated in local government bodies, demonstrating increased political empowerment.

The project also supported livelihood enhancement through various community-based income-generating activities, improving the economic status of targeted households. Overall, the Local Rights Programme made a long-term impact on social justice, gender equality, and empowerment of marginalized groups in the region.
